The Biden campaign released an ad featuring Dr. Austin Dennard, a Dallas OBGYN, who obtained an out-of-state abortion due to her unborn child’s fetal condition.
She states that Texas’ abortion ban was due to Donald Trump overturning Roe v. Wade.
The ad aims to emphasize the protection of abortion rights and is targeted at suburban women and young voters in battleground states.
“In Texas, you are forced to carry that pregnancy, and that is because of Donald Trump overturning Roe v. Wade,” Dr. Austin Dennard says in the ad.
“I was to continue my pregnancy, putting my life at risk,” she says.
“We need leaders who will protect our rights and not take them away, and that’s Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” Dennard says.
Dennard’s case is part of a lawsuit challenging the “medical emergency” exception to Texas’ abortion ban.
“I was not hemorrhaging, I was not septic. I was pregnant with a lethal anomaly, and I did not believe that I would be able to receive an abortion in my state at that time for the sole purpose of my lethal anomaly,” she said previously.
The ad coincides with the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision and highlights Trump’s role in appointing conservative justices to the Supreme Court.
“For 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade terminated, and I did it. And I’m proud to have done it,” Trump said.
