Donald Trump has resorted to racist name-calling against his political opponent, Nikki Haley, referring to her as “Nimbra” and “Nimrada” on his Truth Social account.
This is part of a pattern of derogatory remarks, including “birdbrain” and “birther” claims.
Trump’s spokesperson dismissed criticisms as “fake outrage.”
“I know President Trump well,” Haley said. “That’s what he does when he feels threatened. That’s what he does when he feels insecure.”
Trump explains why he called Haley ‘Nimbra’:
“It’s just a little takeoff on her name – wherever she may come from. I look at her name. I look at a lot of people. I do a lot of names for people. Some people say I’m very good at that.” pic.twitter.com/NWq4oCtDfe

Trump’s history of name-calling extends to others, such as mispronouncing Kamala Harris’s name and creating derogatory nicknames for opponents.
“These nicknames really work for Trump. They’re not only an attempt to diminish an opponent; they are code words for something else. And they distract people’s attention,” Democratic strategist Brad Bannon said.
While some argue that this tactic is effective, studies suggest it may backfire and impact how voters view the perpetrator.
