A fire in a school dormitory in central China has resulted in the death of at least 13 third-grade students, with one student injured.
The private school, Yingcai School, primarily serves nursery and primary-age pupils.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the head of the school has been taken into custody.
Following the incident, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management has called for screening to prevent similar fire risks in densely populated areas.
This tragedy adds to a series of recent fatal incidents in China, including a coal mining company building fire and a hospital fire.
