Lawyers with ties to Charles Koch will argue a case before the Supreme Court that may impact federal agencies’ regulatory powers.
The case involves commercial fishermen opposing a government fee, but if successful, it could challenge the “Chevron deference,” limiting agencies’ ability to interpret laws.
This could affect regulation in areas such as health care, finance, the environment, and fisheries. (Trending: Bombshell J6 Footage Raises Questions About Pelosi’s Team)
The lawyers representing the fishermen are associated with Americans for Prosperity, a group funded by Koch.
“If they win, however, it could mean the end of a legal principle called the ‘Chevron deference’— a doctrine that gives federal agencies latitude to interpret ambiguities in laws passed by Congress,” the report noted.
“Overturning or weakening the principle, legal experts say, could restrict those agencies’ ability to regulate multiple areas including health care, finance, and the environment—as well as fisheries. According to the Times, court records show that lawyers representing the fishermen work for Americans for Prosperity, a group funded by anti-regulatory champion Koch.”
