Former New Orleans Saints linebacker Ronald Powell has passed away at the age of 32, as announced by the NFL Players Association.
The cause of death was not disclosed. Powell was remembered as a beloved father, brother, and son. Former teammates, including Junior Galette, paid tribute to him, highlighting his qualities as a father and a person.
“Today we mourn the loss of Ronald Powell – a father, a brother, and a son who was loved and cherished by so many. We send comfort to all those who knew Ronald,” the NFL Players Association’s retired players account posted on X.

Powell played for the University of Florida and was selected by the Saints in the 2014 NFL Draft, later having stints with the Bears and Seahawks.
Despite an attempted comeback with the Alliance of American Football in 2019, he was released before the league folded.
