President Biden told Rev. Al Sharpton that Trump’s “anti-democratic” statements were a key factor in his decision to run for reelection.
Biden criticized Trump’s statements as “off the wall” and “outrageous,” expressing concern about Trump’s intention to seek revenge.
Biden emphasized that his label of “anti-democratic” referred to the country’s system, not the political party.

Despite facing scrutiny and criticism, Biden, as the likely Democratic nominee, is preparing for a potential rematch of the 2020 race against Trump.
“What made you decide to run for reelection?” Rev. Sharpton asked Biden.
“What was the thing that really closed in your head saying, ‘I can’t go now. I have to do this four more years?’”
“The things that Trump is saying. Trump is saying things that are just off the wall,” Biden said.
“He’s the most anti-democratic … president in American history. The things he’s saying. And he means them. He’s talking about he’s running to get revenge on people. It’s just outrageous things.”
The Biden-Harris team is focused on the president’s record and has warned against the threats to democracy posed by another Trump term.
This comes as Trump leads in the polls for the Republican Iowa caucuses, with rivals Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis working to challenge his momentum.
