A new poll by The Economist/YouGov shows that more Americans believe former President Trump would defeat President Biden if they were their parties’ respective nominees for president.

While 44 percent predict a Trump victory, 35 percent favor Biden, and 21 percent are unsure.

The poll also indicates a split in candidate support, with 43 percent backing Biden and 43 percent supporting Trump.

Additionally, 57 percent of Americans expect Trump to be the GOP nominee, especially among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 7-9 and included 1,593 adult U.S. citizens, with a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points.
