Donald Trump achieved the largest margin of victory in the history of contested Iowa Republican caucuses, with a 51 percent vote share, more than doubling the previous record.
The victory also marks the highest vote share in Iowa Republican caucus history.

The previous record was set by in 1972 by former President George Bush who won with 41 percent, according to data from the Des Moines Public Library.
It only took 30 minutes into the race for major media outlets to call the race in Trump’s favor. This included the Associated Press, CNN, and other major outlets.
In 2016, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Cruz beat Trump by 3.3 percent:
