A Hialeah man and Proud Boys member, Gilbert Fonticoba, received a four-year prison sentence for his involvement in the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021.

He was found guilty of civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding.

His conviction followed the sentencing of the Proud Boys’ former leader, Enrique Tarrio, who received 22 years in prison for his role in the insurrection.

Fonticoba’s actions were detailed by federal prosecutors, and he was found to have posted about the storming of the Capitol on an instant-messaging service.

Fonticoba wrote on Telegram, “We just stormed the [Capitol].”

The Proud Boys describe themselves as, “pro-Western fraternal organization for men who refuse to apologize for creating the modern world, aka Western Chauvinists.”
