Farmers in Germany staged tractor protests against the government’s globalist policies, including tax increases and funding cuts affecting the agriculture industry.
The protests disrupted major transportation routes and halted production at a Volkswagen factory.
The president of the German Farmer’s Association, Joachim Rukwied, criticized the government for jeopardizing the future of agriculture. (Trending: Trump Defies Court And Delivers Closing Argument At Civil Fraud Trial)
Rukwied said the “planned tax increases were the last straw” for his members, whose farms are “dying in installments”.
While the government offered to reconsider some subsidy cuts, the farmers found the proposals inadequate.
The protests received support from some political figures, including the Christian Social Union of Bavaria and the populist Alternative for Germany party.
Chairman Alexander Dobrindt said, “The farmers have our support for this protest.”
The protests were inspired by similar actions in the Netherlands, where the associated party gained political success.
