Facebook has launched a new feature called “Link History” that automatically logs every link a user clicks within the mobile app, storing it in a dedicated section.
While users can opt out, the default setting is to collect this data for targeted advertising.
This move is seen as an effort to preserve Facebook’s data-collection business model in the face of growing privacy concerns and regulatory challenges. (Trending: U.S. State Passes Personal Pronoun Ban)
The feature is marketed as a user convenience tool, but enabling it allows Meta to leverage the information for ad targeting.
Despite potential privacy concerns, Facebook claims that data stored in Link History will be purged within 90 days if a user deactivates the feature.
