The defendant, Deobra Delone Redden, had requested leniency before suddenly leaping over the judge’s bench and assaulting her.

Redden was arrested and faces multiple new felony charges.
Court officials are reviewing protocols to ensure the safety of judiciary, public, and employees.
“It happened so fast it was hard to know what to do,” chief county district attorney Richard Scow said.
Mary Ann Price noted that the authorities were “reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public and our employees.”
