Ricky Gervais Hits Back At Outrage Over His Latest Netflix Special

via TBS

Ricky Gervais responds to outrage over his Netflix comedy special “Armageddon,” stating that the offense is faux and people just want attention.

He addressed a controversy over a joke about terminally ill children and the Make A Wish Foundation, emphasizing that he is simply playing a role and people’s reactions are based on feelings.

Gervais criticized those who claim offense and pointed out that only a few viewers disliked the show, while millions enjoyed it. (Trending: Joe Biden Emailed Hunter’s Business Associates 54 Times)

“I don’t do that. But people have a reaction,” he said of his Make-A-Wish joke.

“They don’t analyze it. They feel something – that’s what offense is. It’s a feeling. That’s why ‘I’m offended’ is quite meaningless. What do you want me to change?” Gervais said.

“They’re not really offended,” he added.

“They just want to be heard. Of all the millions of people that watched it and loved it, only a few don’t like it,” Gervais said.

“If I give them special attention and try and placate them, I’ve annoyed the other millions of people that got the joke.”

“They go, ‘No, you’ve ruined it for us!’”

He also takes aim at twenty-somethings’ sensitivity and addresses previous outrage over his comedy.

“People saying ‘you can’t say that.’ You can. You can,” Gervais pressed.
