A recent Fox News poll of American voters revealed that 64 percent support prosecuting and fining employers who hire illegal aliens, similar to implementing mandatory E-Verify nationwide.
This policy is backed by swing voters, moderates, and even 53 percent of Democrats.
The survey aligns with previous data showing widespread support for mandatory E-Verify as a solution to illegal immigration. (Trending: FBI Bribery Probe Caught Joe Biden’s Brother On Tape)
The poll also reported the 32% oppose a policy that targets employers, and 4% did not have an opinion.
A Rasmussen Reports poll from November showed that almost 70% of voters back nationwide mandatory E-Verify.
The poll also reported that 68% of working and lower-middle class Americans also supported a federal policy like this.
Additionally, legislation proposing nationwide mandatory E-Verify and a gradual increase in the federal minimum wage has been introduced by Senators Tom Cotton and Mitt Romney.
“American workers today compete against millions of illegal immigrants for too few jobs with wages that are too low — that’s unfair,” said Sen. Cotton.
“Ending the black market for illegal labor will open up jobs for Americans. Raising the minimum wage will allow Americans filling those jobs to better support their families,” he explained.
Adding, “Our bill does both.”
The New York Times has also acknowledged the positive impact of Florida’s mandatory E-Verify law on raising wages in low-wage industries.
