Barack Obama surprised preschoolers at Parkside Community Academy in Chicago by reading a Christmas book and delivering gifts.
The former president’s visit, which included wearing a Santa hat and distributing presents, was met with excitement from the students.

“Oh, my God,” celebrated a student.
“He called Mrs. Claus ‘babe’!”, exclaimed Obama, revealing a bit of conservatism.
Parkside teacher Debra Gardner said, “For him to take the time to come here out of his busy schedule to read a book, it just shows that he is still a leader.”
Parkside Principal Tori Williams-Hughes added, “It’s a little new to them to really understand the magnitude of who he is and what he’s done for the country.”
The visit was tied to the future Obama Presidential Center, which is being built nearby, and reflects the Obamas’ deep connections to Chicago.
