Rep. Nicole Malliotakis accused New York City officials of attempting to register newly arrived border crossers and illegal aliens living in city-contracted shelters to vote, providing documents from a Freedom of Information Law request that detailed a contract between the city and Homes for the Homeless.
Other Republican officials also condemned the alleged voter fraud scheme, with City Councilman David Carr emphasizing that noncitizen voting is illegal in New York City.
“We believe this is the smoking gun that proves what we’ve been saying all along — that the city intends to register non-citizens to vote,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis said. (Trending: Olympic Gold Medalist Sentenced For Jan 6)

“Noncitizen voting is not the law of the City of New York, and no one should be trying to register noncitizens to vote,” City Councilman David Carr said.
This comes after a failed effort by New York City Democrats to give nearly a million foreign nationals the right to vote in municipal elections, which was struck down by the New York Supreme Court in 2022.
