A standoff with police in Arlington, Virginia, ended in an explosion when a suspect fired a flare gun multiple times and then discharged rounds from a firearm inside a home.
The suspect barricaded himself inside and refused to respond to police attempts to communicate.

No injuries were reported from the flare gun, and minor injuries were sustained by officers at the scene.
A shelter-in-place order was issued but has since been lifted, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
