Donald Trump, the leading contender for the GOP nomination, is returning to Iowa for a town hall with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
Despite his absence from the upcoming GOP debate, Trump maintains a significant lead in Iowa’s polls over rivals Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.
Meanwhile, DeSantis and Haley are vying for second place, with Haley receiving support from influential groups. (Trending: Olympic Gold Medalist Sentenced For Jan 6)
“President Trump is taking his message directly to the people, like he’s always done,” Trump campaign senior adviser Chris LaCivita said.
“That’s why he’s dominating in every single poll across the country.”
“Bring as many people as you can to vote, and do the caucus like nobody’s ever done the caucus before,” Trump said to an Iowa audience. “And we’re going to win.”
“The more we win, they’re going to see that signal for the November election,” Trump later said.
Although Trump’s victory in the Iowa caucus is anticipated, the focus is on whether DeSantis or Haley can secure a strong enough second place to challenge Trump in the broader race.
“Trump’s already in the finals,” said Republican consultant David Kochel.
“The question is whether Gov. DeSantis or Amb. Haley come in a strong enough second place finish where they put a sizable gap between themselves and whomever comes in third to be able to say to Republicans in New Hampshire and beyond that this is a two-person race,” he added.
