A woman’s account at Maybank, a top Malaysian bank, unexpectedly showed a balance of $86 million due to a glitch.
Despite the error, the bank blocked her account without notification, making it difficult for her to regain access.
Maybank later confirmed that the issue had been resolved and clarified that it was not a system-wide problem and the customer’s account was not compromised. (Trending: Olympic Gold Medalist Sentenced For Jan 6)

“Out of a sudden, I found my personal MAYBANK account has RM 400,040,404.04, you’d think I hit the lottery, right?” wrote the unsuspecting bank customer.
“Well, not really – It is glitches!!!”, she continued.
“Now Maybank decided to block my account without any calls, message or notification at all,” added the woman.
“To unlock it, I had to visit the nearest Maybank branch & the officer had to call customer service to unblock it – which took forever & this is not my mistake!”, she explained.
“It was not a system-wide issue and the customer account was not compromised,” a representative told The New Straits Times.
Maybank is a leading financial institution in Southeast Asia with the fourth largest assets in the region.
