Romanian yoga guru Gregorian Bivolaru and 14 others have been charged in Paris with human trafficking, kidnapping, and sexual exploitation in connection with an international ring.
Bivolaru and another individual faced a long list of charges, while others received a trimmed-down version.
The arrests followed a six-year manhunt and revealed deplorable conditions in which 26 people were held. (Trending: Olympic Gold Medalist Sentenced For Jan 6)
Alleged victims described Bivolaru as coercing women into sexual relationships under the guise of spiritual elevation.
The group’s “ashrams” were reportedly centers for indoctrination and sexual exploitation.
The organization has denied the accusations, calling them “absurd” and a “witch hunt.”
The alleged abuses spanned Europe, with Bivolaru facing legal proceedings in multiple countries.
