Democrat-run sanctuary cities are facing significant costs due to the influx of migrants from the southern border and are seeking federal assistance to manage the burden.
New York City has seen over 140,000 migrants and is facing budget cuts as a result of the crisis, with costs expected to rise to nearly $11 billion in the next two fiscal years.
Chicago and Denver are also struggling with the costs, and mayors from several cities are requesting $5 billion in additional aid from the federal government to support asylum seekers entering their communities. (Trending: Another Major Company Goes Woke And Goes Broke)

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has warned that the crisis could “destroy” the city.
However, Democrats have refused to enforce federal laws, which allows the crisis to negative impact border states.
“Migrant costs are going up, tax revenue growth is slowing, and COVID stimulus funding is drying up,” Adams said, announcing the numbers.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who campaigned on strengthening protections for those in the county illegally, said, “The $40 million that it’s costing the City of Chicago every single month to provide care for these individuals who are seeking asylum, that is not sustainable.”
Johnson has also claimed that he “inherited” the crisis.
“Look, the international crisis that I inherited six months ago, I’ve made it very clear that we are going to make sure that we remove people out of police districts: women, children who are living on floors and sleeping outside, that we’re going to create spaces that provide more dignity,” Johnson said.
The White House has requested $1.4 billion in supplemental border funding for cities and communities, but mayors argue that more resources are needed to provide proper care for the migrants.
“Our cities need additional resources that far exceed the amount proposed in order to properly care for the asylum seekers entering our communities,” the mayors said in a recent letter to President Biden.
“Relying on municipal budgets is not sustainable and has forced us to cut essential city services.”
