Trump has a small but clear advantage over Biden at this point in the campaign, which is unusual for an incumbent.
Biden is currently struggling with moderates, and is trailing Trump in regards to voters’ trust in their handling of the economy.
The best explanation for Biden’s troubles is considered to be his age.

71% of registered voters in the six closest states Biden won in 2020 said that he was too old to be an effective president.
This is a significant increase from the 36% who said the same in 2020.
If Biden can’t convince voters that Trump is also too old for the job, Trump could become the first president since Grover Cleveland to be elected to nonconsecutive terms.
