The Godley, Texas school district removed a woman from a council after learning she was a convicted prostitute and escort.
The woman was appointed to a committee that recommends appropriate sex education material for students.
The woman was also involved in other volunteer committees at the school, but she was removed after the school learned about her criminal history. (Trending: Chilling Surveillance Program Under Biden Exposed)
“We had no idea what was going on in her personal life. She was always very friendly and personable,” Godley ISD School Board trustee Kayla Lain told the station.
Mary Lowe of the nonprofit group Families Engaged for Effective Education had an issue with Ketcherside being a convicted sex worker while contributing to a council that promotes “appropriate grade levels and methods for human sexuality instruction” in the district.
“I don’t see any community wanting that to be the standard for their school district,” said Lowe.
The school district requires background checks for all positions, but the woman’s misdemeanors did not show up in the checks.
The whistleblowers are calling for changes at both the state and local levels to improve oversight.
“We do feel like there are a lot of changes that need to happen at the state level as well as at the local level,” Lowe told reporters.
