The Department of Defense (DOD) plans to spend nearly $270 million on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives from fiscal years 2022 to 2024.
The DOD’s increased spending on DEIA has been criticized for promoting Critical Race Theory and woke ideology.
There are concerns about the impact of these initiatives on the military’s focus on lethality and readiness.

It blames “White Europeans” for “settler colonialism," attacks "white fragility," and warns of “transmisogyny.”

“DEIA has impacts on both the Department’s workforce and its mission, and therefore it should be examined beyond the traditional human resources lens by which it historically has been viewed,” the plan reads, pointing to the department’s attempt to “institutionalize the advancement of DEIA and the value of diversity to the Department’s mission.”
The DOD’s efforts to institutionalize DEIA principles have faced pushback, with some expressing concerns about the direction of the department’s diversity agenda.
“Our military is not focused on lethality. They’re focused on diversity and climate,” veteran Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) stated.
“That’s going to result in our enemies not fearing us and respecting us as they should.”
