Former College Park Mayor Patrick Wojahn, a well-known LGBTQ activist, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for pleading guilty to 140 charges related to child pornography.
The charges stemmed from his sharing of explicit images on social media, leading to significant emotional impact on the victims.
Despite remorse and support from some individuals, the judge referred Wojahn to a treatment-oriented maximum-security prison. (Trending: US Troops Deliver Devastating Blow to Biden)
“I do sense the remorsefulness,” Prince George’s County Circuit Court Judge Karen Mason said.
“And I do know you take responsibility.”
Wojahn apologized in court and expressed a desire to be the person the community knows him to be.
His history as an LGBTQ advocate and his resignation earlier this year were also noted.
