A new report has revealed the erosion of American superiority over China in submarine warfare, noting that Chinese technology may have made their submarines harder to detect.
While China’s fleet does not individually match the U.S. in capability, it is rapidly expanding, with projections of having 80 submarines by 2035.
“The implications for the U.S. and our Pacific allies will be profound,” former Navy officer Christopher Carlson said.

The U.S. Navy is struggling to meet its submarine goals, and as China’s strength grows, the demand on America’s forces increases, potentially leading to a heightened showdown in the Pacific.
