A compilation video of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on a call with Mike Pence during the Capitol riot led to a conspiracy theory that the conversation was staged.
The video, posted on X, shows Pelosi and Schumer talking to Pence, and later Chuck Grassley, with similar dialogue.
Some claim the footage was manipulated, while others dismiss the conspiracy.

Pelosi’s spokesperson called the theories “nonsense” and “incoherent.”
Pence can reportedly be heard in the video saying, “I’m at the Capitol building. I’m literally standing with the Chief of Police, of the U.S. Capitol Police.”
The visual portion ends, but Pence’s voice can still be heard.
“They believe that the House and the Senate will be able to reconvene in roughly an hour,” said Pence.

The next clip shows Pelosi and Schumer on the same day, but this time Senator Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican, is standing with them as they talk to Pence. This part of the video was a CNN exclusive and had roughly the same dialogue as the first video.
After the video played on X, the text, “Exact same recording. Two different shots. One with Grassley—one without Grassley,” displayed just before it ends.
Just Greg on X did not hold back on his accusations.
He wrote, “The whole damn thing was staged, filmed, and orchestrated by Pelosi,” to his followers.
Alexandra Pelosi, the daughter of Nancy Pelosi included a longer video of that conversation in her documentary about Jan. 6.
“I’m at the Capital building. I’m literally standing with the Chief of Police, of the U.S. Capitol Police, Steven Sund. He just informed me what you will hear through official channels, explained Pence.
“Paul Irving, your Sergeant-at-Arms, will inform you that their best information is that they believe that the House and the Senate will be able to reconvene in roughly an hour,” he added.
Grassley joined the group at this point and Pence reportedly repeats his message directly to Sen. Grassley.
“I was very pleased to hear from the chief. He came over, he joined me here in the basement of the Capitol to inform me they think you’ll be able to reconvene the Senate and Madame Speaker you’ll be able to reconvene the House in roughly an hour,” said Pence.
The original CNN video showed a longer interaction and revealed a discrepancy in the shorter clip, where Pelosi was muted.
