Rapper Snoop Dogg recently shocked fans by announcing on social media that he’s giving up smoking, a surprising move given his public persona as a cannabis enthusiast and the owner of a marijuana brand.
While some speculate it could be a promotional stunt, the rapper’s comments earlier this year about reducing his marijuana usage for his family suggest that the announcement may actually be genuine.
“After much consideration and conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” he wrote.

“Bro tweeting like there’s been a death in the family,” one X user wrote.
Today isn’t April Fools day Snoop,” another said.
“Snoop without smoke is like earth without water,” one person quipped.
“I know you’re high posting this,” another claimed.
“Damn, the world is really really coming to an end,” a user said.
“This is probably just gonna be some viral campaign where he launches his own line of vapes or edibles or something,” another pressed.
“I know a set up of a Super Bowl commercial when I see it,” one commented.
He cited concerns for his health and setting a good example for his grandchildren as reasons for this decision.
“Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways,” Snoop Dogg stated.
“The main way is being concerned with how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with because I want to see my grandkids grow old.”
“The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I intaking?”
Snoop later clarified his post was a pre-planned publicity stunt for Solo Stove, a fireless “smokeless” fire pit.
