Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s new book, “MTG,” contains claims that no Democrats defended the House chamber during the Capitol riot, mocking them as “hysterical.”
However, accounts and photos from the insurrection have contradicted her statements.
“Several of the Republican congressmen said, ‘We’re going to stay right here and defend the House chamber.’ As they began barricading the door with furniture, I noticed not one Democrat was willing to stay to defend the chamber,” Greene wrote. Rep. Jason Crow called her claims “patently false,” noting that he and other Democrats were trapped in the House gallery during the riot.
Greene also ridiculed Democrats for their reaction to tear gas and mocked Rep. Jerry Nadler’s ability to run to safety.
