The Biden administration has implemented a 90-day halt on most civilian firearm exports, citing national security concerns.
The U.S. Department of Commerce will assess the risk of firearms being diverted to activities that promote regional instability, violate human rights, or fuel criminal activities.

Citing national security reasons, the Commerce Department said the U.S. will largely stop issuing civilian export licenses and will assess the “risk of firearms being diverted to entities or activities that promote regional instability, violate human rights, or fuel criminal activities.”

Government clients must provide details on the recipients of firearms, and civilian license applications will be put on hold.
This move could impact U.S. firearms companies such as Sturm Ruger & Co., Vista Outdoor, and Smith & Wesson Brands.
