GOP Politician Arrested On Disturbing Charges

via WAFF 48 News & Weather

A former Republican campaign chairman in Alabama, Kyle Hayden Lewter, has been charged with murder and sexual torture in the death of 54-year-old Derek Franklin Walls.

The two men knew each other and got into a physical altercation at a home in northern Alabama that resulted in Walls’ death from injuries.

An autopsy is pending but police say Walls was not shot.

Lewter is also accused of using an inanimate object during the alleged sexual torture.

“The victim and offender knew each other and got into a physical altercation that resulted in the victim being injured,” the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.

“It appears he died as a result of those injuries. Detectives are awaiting autopsy results, but again we have confirmed that the victim was not shot,” they said.

Walls’ daughter has launched a fundraising campaign to pay for her father’s funeral expenses following the unexpected death.

“My dad’s life was taken from him in the middle of the night on March 6th. Due to this unexpected passing nothing was in place to help with any of the funeral expenses. I would like to have a small service where everyone can get together in remembrance of my father,” Walls’ daughter, Shelby Thorson wrote.

“If anyone would like to donate to help get things together that would be wonderful. Thank you all so much for the love and support,” she added.

A state senator who Lewter previously worked for expressed being saddened by the situation.
