Reps. Ilhan Omar and Cori Bush appeared to confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day in their initial social media posts.
Omar and Bush posted messages honoring veterans rather than fallen troops, as is appropriate for Memorial Day.
After receiving criticism from users for not understanding the difference between the holidays, both deleted their initial posts and replaced them with ones specifically honoring American troops who died in service.

Some other “Squad” members like AOC, Tlaib, and Casar did not post anything, while Pressley, Bowman, Lee, and Ramirez posted appropriate Memorial Day tributes.
The episode highlighted how two members of Congress did not seem to grasp the distinct meaning behind the holidays of Memorial Day versus Veterans Day.
