James McCartney, son of Paul McCartney, and Sean Ono Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, have released a new song called “Primrose Hill” that they co-wrote.
James McCartney expressed his excitement about sharing the song and continuing to make music.
“‘Primrose Hill’ is here! Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @sean_ono_lennon,” McCartney wrote. “With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.”
The acoustic song was inspired by a childhood vision James had in Scotland and is about finding true love.
It references the London park Primrose Hill. James’ sister Mary McCartney directed a short music video for the song.
“Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye,” the younger McCartney wrote. “‘Primrose Hill’ is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.”
Paul McCartney promoted the release on social media, giving love and support to Sean Ono Lennon for co-writing the track with his son.
“My son James has a new song out called ‘Primrose Hill’ – check it out! And lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon who co-wrote the song,” Paul McCartney wrote.
While not the legendary Beatles, the new song carries on the family musical legacy between the sons of Lennon and McCartney.
