Supporters of Islamic Republic
An Iranian advocate and legal professional strongly criticized individuals backing the idea of the Islamic Republic engaging in a conflict with Israel. They stated that such supporters are not truly supportive of the Iranian population, who simply desire peaceful resolutions.
Elica Le Bon
Elica Le Bon, a social media personality with a substantial following, shared a video on TikTok conveying an anti-war stance to her over 300,000 followers. In the video, she addressed those urging Iran to “protect itself” in response to Israel’s recent drone and missile strike, emphasizing the Iranian people’s desire for peace.
Iranian woman
“Hi, Iranian woman here,” Le Bon begins the video. “It’s become very apparent that you haven’t been listening to anything that we’ve had to say for the past two years, but I was wondering if you could just lend me a few minutes of your time in this ungodly hour to hear us now.”
Victim
“In what capacity have you distorted the story to make the Islamic Republic the victim?” Le Bon asked.
Government
Le Bon emphasized the difference between the government in Tehran and the Iranian populace, highlighting that ordinary Iranians aspire to live in harmony and tranquility.
War
“If you would listen to us for the past two years, much less the past 45 years, you’d know that Iranians don’t want war with Israel,” she said. “We want peace with Israel.”
Fatal attack
In retaliation to a fatal attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria that resulted in 12 casualties, including a high-ranking commander, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, Iran launched numerous drones and missiles at Israel.
Denied
Israel denied any involvement in the strike. According to an Israeli military representative, 99% of Iran’s drones and missiles were successfully intercepted.
Criticize
Le Bon went on to criticize backers of the Islamic regime, labeling them as hypocrites for neglecting to heed the voices and needs of the Iranian citizens who are under the control of the current governing system in the country.
Terrorist
“When we were screaming that they were killing Iranian women for not wearing a hijab, where were you?” Le Bon asked. “When they were lynching Iranian men from cranes for protesting, where were you? When we were explaining that it’s a terrorist occupying force, where were you?”
Violation
“But all of a sudden everyone’s graduated from Instagram school of law to say that it’s a violation of international law and Iran has the right to defend itself,” she said.
Aggression
Le Bon admonished these supporters, accusing them of not truly supporting the Iranian population and endangering the lives of Iranians and others by endorsing the Islamic Republic’s ongoing acts of aggression.
Hatred
“It’s you who wants war with Israel, it’s your hatred for Israel and your hatred for Jews that’s pulling us into a war that we didn’t ask for,” Le Bon said, addressing those who support the Islamic Republic.
45 years
“Have we not suffered enough for the past 45 years that we now have to be used as pawns for your fantasies about war with Israel?” she continued. “Leave us alone, we don’t want that.”
