Alan Ritchson
Alan Ritchson, known for his role in ‘Reacher,’ is making headlines for his strong criticism of Donald Trump and his supporters.
Ex-president
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the action star expressed his bewilderment at Christians who back the ex-president.
Christians
“Christians today have become the most vitriolic tribe,” said Ritchson, who himself identifies as a follower of Jesus. “It is so antithetical to what Jesus was calling us to be and to do.”
Con man
“Trump is a rapist and a con man,” he went on, “And yet the entire Christian church seems to be treat him like he’s their poster child and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.”
Ritchson’s remarks
Ritchson’s remarks went relatively unnoticed by conservatives until former Trump Cabinet member Sebastian Gorka brought up the interview on his radio program “America First” recently.
Political views
During his five-minute-plus rant, Gorka told Ritchson to “shut your pie hole” when it comes to “political views” and “keep doing your play acting.”
Outrage
Ritchson’s comments sparked outrage among many conservatives who pledged to boycott “Reacher,” a series centered around a tough former Army officer known for taking justice into his own hands.
Criticism
Despite the vocal criticism from supporters of the MAGA movement, there were also numerous individuals who commended the actor for his candid expression of opinions.
Jack Reacher
Adapted from Lee Child’s popular “Jack Reacher” novels, the show has proven to be a major hit for Amazon. In December, the second season of “Reacher” premiered at number two on Nielsen’s streaming charts, accumulating a total of 1.2 billion viewing minutes.
