A federal judge denied Hunter Biden’s request to dismiss gun charges against him, rejecting arguments they were politically motivated.

Biden is accused of lying about drug use on a federal form when buying a firearm in 2018 while struggling with addiction.

His lawyers claimed another nonviolent offender would not have been charged.

The judge has not ruled on challenging the constitutionality of the charges, with jury selection scheduled for early June.

Separately, Biden still faces a June trial in California for alleged tax evasion over a four-year scheme not paying $1.4 million in taxes.

His lawyers there also plan to appeal the denied motion to dismiss those charges. Biden has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.

“Notice is hereby given that Robert Hunter Biden hereby appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit,” the court document states.
