Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron met with former US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
Cameron, now serving as UK Foreign Secretary, is urging US lawmakers to back additional funding for Ukraine amid its war with Russia.
Details of Cameron and Trump’s discussion are unclear.
Cameron will later meet Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the $60 billion US military aid package for Ukraine that has been held up by House Republicans for months, as well as the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Cameron has called on Western leaders to pressure House Speaker Mike Johnson and Republicans to approve more aid, arguing European and UK security depends on supporting Ukraine.
“Speaker Johnson can make it happen in Congress,” Cameron said. “I’m going to go and see him next week and say, ‘Ukraine needs that money. It is American security, it’s European security, it’s Britain’s security that’s on the line in Ukraine, and they need our help.’”
A $95 billion aid package for Ukraine faces obstruction from populist conservatives seeking to end funding and demands for border security concessions.
The UK has pledged nearly $15 billion in support for Ukraine since early 2022, with $9 billion for military assistance, as the three-year war continues.
