An undercover detective arranging to purchase a firearm from a 17-year-old boy was instead robbed at gunpoint by the boy, who threatened to “blow his brains out” if he failed to comply.
The boy pulled out a pistol from the detective’s waistband, racked it and pointed it in the detective’s face, demanding money.
After a brief foot chase, the 17-year-old was apprehended along with two accomplices who were acting as lookouts.
A search of the 17-year-old’s home turned up an AR pistol, ammunition, extended magazines and a drum magazine.
The 17-year-old was subsequently charged with armed robbery and firearm offenses while one of the accomplices faced additional charges due to outstanding warrants and the types of weapons found.
