Country singer Reba McEntire denied calling Taylor Swift an “entitled brat” during a Super Bowl National Anthem performance.
The accusation originated from a Facebook group but McEntire clarified on Instagram that she never made such comments, praising Swift as a wonderful artist and role model.
“Reba McEntire [sic] talks about how disappointed she was to look up at the big screen while performing The National Anthem, only to see Taylor Swift laughing and drinking and making a mockery of the event,” the post read. “I let her have it afterward. She’s an entitled little brat,” she was alleged to have said.
“Please don’t believe everything you see on the Internet,” McEntire wrote. “I did not say this. Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry.”
Swift was actually seen showing respect during the anthem.
McEntire received support from fans, who described her as a kind and positive person.
“I’ve never heard Reba say a negative word about anyone. She’s a gem,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Reba is a beautiful person inside and out .. I knew she would never say those things,” another wrote.
“This is why I love Reba, and why I would never believe that article regardless. She would never stoop to being that kind of cruel or hateful. Kudos for sharing this, and the truth!!” another said.
Swift has hit headlines for her recent commercial success, social influence, political affiliations, and criticisms she has faced, including calls to stay out of the 2024 election.
