Former Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz spoke of his revelation that he never had a conversation with President Biden or Vice President Harris, highlighting their apparent negligence towards border security.
CBS’ coverage of the border crisis was heavily criticized, with many suggesting bias towards establishment talking points.
“I’ve never had one conversation with the president or the vice president, for that matter,” Ortiz said.
“And so, I was the chief of the Border Patrol. I commanded 21,000 people,” he said. “That’s a problem.”
“Do you believe that the White House has sent mixed messages to migrants?” CBS’ Cecilia Vega asked.
“Yeah, most definitely,” Ortiz said.
Critics mentioned the rejection of a bipartisan immigration deal in the Senate and have questioned the motives behind the administration’s handling of the border situation.
“Governor Abbott argued the federal government had failed to fulfill its obligation to the states. And in that, some heard echoes of Texas’ history of rebellion and threats of secession,” Vega said.
“President Biden says that if Republicans were serious about securing the border, they would not have rejected a bipartisan immigration deal in the Senate last month after former President Trump opposed it,” she said.
