Raul Ortiz, former Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol under President Biden, criticized politicians for focusing on media ops in a small area while neglecting larger border issues.
He highlighted the lack of communication from President Biden and Vice President Harris during his tenure.
“I’ve never had one conversation with the president or vice president,” Ortiz said.
“I was the chief of the Border Patrol, I commanded 21,000 people. That’s a problem,” he said.
Ortiz emphasized the need for a clearer message to migrants and expressed concerns about mixed signals from the White House.
His tenure saw significant border incidents, and he testified that the border is not secure before retiring.
Biden and Trump’s visits to the border underscored its importance in the 2024 presidential election.
