Despite posting a $91.6 million bond to appeal his defamation case, Donald Trump continued to defame E Jean Carroll at a rally.
Trump claimed Carroll’s lawsuit was politically motivated by Democratic operatives who funded it, though two juries already found him liable for sexual abuse and defamation for denying the allegations and calling Carroll a liar.
“I just posted a $91 million bond on a fake story. Totally made up story,” Trump said. “Based on false accusations made about me by a woman that I knew nothing about, didn’t know, never heard of it. I know nothing about her.”
The second jury awarded Carroll $83 million in damages for additional defamatory statements.
However, Trump continued making similar claims, attacking Carroll’s lawyers and the judge overseeing the case.
“Her lawyers are big Democratic operatives. The judge was a disaster. But Democratic operatives funded and directed her, they gave her the money to pursue the case,” he said.
Trump asserted the judge was “highly corrupt” and “Trump-deranged,” though the judge showed frustration with both legal teams but did not scream.
“His name is Lewis Kaplan – an angry man, he screamed at my lawyer,” Trump said.
Trump frequently attacks prosecution and judges in his many legal cases as a defense tactic.
The $83 million damages have not deterred his continued defamation of Carroll.
