During a visit to the US-Mexico border, former President Trump said he spoke to the parents of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student murdered in Georgia allegedly by an illegal immigrant.
Trump called the parents “incredible people” who are “devastated.” Laken Riley was found beaten to death in February.
“Reports have come out, and we’ve been covering them, and everybody’s been … and I spoke to the parents of an incredible young lady, and you saw her the other day, you saw what happened the other day in Georgia,” Trump said.
“And the parents are devastated, they’re incredible people,” he added.
“This is a Biden invasion over the past three years … he’s the worst president our country has ever had, probably the most incompetent president we’ve ever had,” Trump said.
Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela, was charged with her kidnapping and murder.
Ibarra had arrived at the border in September and was released into the US interior under Biden’s catch-and-release policies.
He had prior arrests in New York and Georgia but was not turned over to ICE due to sanctuary policies.
Republicans have demanded DHS Secretary Mayorkas turn over Ibarra’s file and explain why he was granted parole into the US.
“No later than March 8th, please provide us with a copy of the case file for Jose Antonio Ibarra, including the record showing what urgent humanitarian reason or significant public benefit justified the decision to grant him parole,” the Senators wrote in a letter.
