Gal Gadot faced backlash after sharing a photo of her newborn daughter on social media. The Wonder Woman star posted a picture from the hospital holding her fourth child with husband Jaron Varsano.
While most congratulated her, some criticized Gadot over her support for Israel in light of the country’s conflict with Hamas.
“My sweet girl, welcome. The pregnancy was not easy and we made it through,” Gadot wrote.
“You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name, Ori, which means ‘my light’ in Hebrew,” she added. “Our hearts are full of gratitude. Welcome to the house of girls. Daddy is pretty cool too.”
One called her a “terrorist state” supporter for Israel’s response to Hamas attacks.
Others inappropriately brought up Palestinian deaths.
“Why should we celebrate? She is an active supporter of this terrorist state who killed how many children and newborn babies,” one X user wrote.
“I’m sure the pregnant Palestinian women in Gaza are having a much harder pregnancy than you did,” another said.
“Israel killing all of the children of Palestine even babies, even newborns,” another wrote.
Most respondents slammed the negative comments as hateful and congratulated Gadot on her growing family.
One user said, “I honestly cannot believe some of the nasty comments in this post! There is enough nastiness and hatred in this world as it is, why can’t people be nice and be happy for others.”
“Mazal tov!!! Love the name and its message! Our nations (sic) answer in times of hatred is just LIGHT!! Feel good Mama,” another wrote.
She joins Gadot’s three other daughters at home.
