Alabama Senator Katie Britt delivered the Republican rebuttal to President Biden’s State of the Union address in 2022.

However, her impassioned speech delivered in a whisper from her kitchen was widely panned, with Republicans making comments such as, “What the hell am I watching?”

Numerous Republican operatives, pollsters, staffers, and those in former President Trump’s orbit harshly criticized Britt’s performance as overdramatic and resembling a rejected audition tape.

Her delivery was described as “creepy”, resembling public-access TV, and likely to be mocked on SNL.

Conservative commentators and Republican Capitol Hill staffers also derided the speech, saying a stronger performance was needed to rebut the President.

“I’ll give Biden this — he at least gave a better speech than Katie Britt,” a Republican consultant said.

“I’m sure Katie Britt is a sweet mom and person, but this speech is not what we need,” TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk wrote on X. “Joe Biden just declared war on the American right and Katie Britt is talking like she’s hosting a cooking show whispering about how Democrats ‘dont get it.’”

“I know y’all were going for the relatable mom speaking in her kitchen from her heart, but it didn’t work. Just a straight, strong speech will do in the future. Thanks,” podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey said.

“She really thinks she’s killing it. But it’s comical, like SNL quality,” one Republican staffer added.
