Donald Trump outlined his strategy to regain the presidency in 2024 with a GOP Congress, emphasizing the need for “stronger” leadership.
Polls show him gaining support relative to Biden among key demographics, including younger voters.
“Two words: ‘strong and united.’ We need stronger people. We have such power, but we don’t use it. But the Democrats use that power. And they use it very horribly into weaponization and things that nobody has ever seen outside of a banana republic,” Trump said.
A Fox News poll found 51% of under-30s plan to vote for Trump compared to 45% for Biden, representing a shift from 2020.
Biden is also losing some support among black, Hispanic and younger progressive voters due to issues like his handling of Israel/Hamas conflict, lack of action on climate and student debt, and questions about his age.
“With less than one year to go until Election Day, the polls show that we are beating Joe Biden by wide margins both nationally and in the battleground states—and young people are a major part of the reason why,” Trump said. “A recent NBC News poll found that we are leading Biden 46 percent to 42 percent nationally among voters ages 18 to 34—a clear sign that young Americans are rejecting Joe Biden’s reign of failure, incompetence, and corruption.”
Trump has continued courting Democratic voting blocs and argued in an op-ed that young people fared better economically under his policies before Biden’s “failed agenda” led to higher inflation, prices and interest rates.
“The U.S. economy had never been better for young Americans, but for the past three years, young people have borne the heavy costs of the failed Biden agenda: crippling inflation, soaring prices, skyrocketing interest rates, unaffordable housing, and escalating crime,” Trump said.
The polls indicate potential weaknesses for Biden heading into a potential 2024 rematch with Trump.
