The Fulton County Board of Ethics in Georgia will no longer hear complaints against District Attorney Fani Willis regarding her relationship with a special prosecutor on the case involving Trump’s election interference.
The board determined it does not have jurisdiction over Willis as a state constitutional officer.
“The extra resources and financial costs for the court and the district attorney’s office, both paid for by Fulton County taxpayers like me, are to deal with this improper relationship,” Fulton County resident Steven Kramer wrote.
Two complaints had been filed citing concerns over a potential conflict of interest and improper use of taxpayer funds.
Meanwhile, a Republican-led state Senate committee also investigated the relationship.
As the judge overseeing the 2020 election case considers whether to remove Willis and her office from the prosecution, the relationship continues facing scrutiny and could impact the historic case if Willis is disqualified.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to charges related to alleged election interference.
