Char-ron Dorsey, a former NFL offensive lineman and championship high school and college football player, died at age 46 from complications of a stroke.

Dorsey excelled at Bolles School in Jacksonville as a three-time All-State defensive tackle and power forward in basketball.

At Florida State, he played defensive tackle before converting to offensive tackle.

Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, he started the last two games of his rookie season but was waived in 2002 due to weight issues.

Dorsey also briefly played for the Houston Texans and New York Giants, though his Giants tenure was injury-marred.

Beyond his NFL career, Dorsey coached football at the middle and high school levels in Jacksonville and served as a security guard and youth football coach, impacting many student athletes.
