Text messages between a lawyer involved in the Trump case and the former lawyer of the special prosecutor suggest an improper relationship between Fani Willis and the Nathan Wade.
The texts imply the DA and prosecutor were romantically involved before she hired him, contradicting their testimony that the relationship began after his appointment.
When questioned in court, the prosecutor’s former lawyer walked back statements from the texts.
Terrence Bradley, testified, “I have no direct knowledge of when the relationship started.”
SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly said, “A 180 between this person in these texts and the man we saw on the stand.”
However, the texts indicate he had knowledge of multiple trips taken by the DA and prosecutor and suggested their relationship began earlier than claimed.
Ashleigh Merchant texted, “I assume you knew about the trips…. wowowoow.”
“I’m shocked…Well not really but somewhat,” continued Merchant.
Bradely texted, “No I didn’t.”
Bradley said, “Doesn’t surprise me…they took many trips to Florida.”
“Texas,” said Bradley.
“And Napa,” added Merchant.
Bradley said, “California.”
Merchant said, “I can’t believe they were sooooo carefree”
…
Merchant said, “They had a full on relationship. Insane”
…
Bradley said, “He went to help her move her [I.e. to move Willis’ daughter to California].”
Merchant said, “Why she would hire him is insane.”
Merchant said, “Like just date / don’t hire him.”
The defense argues this proves the DA lied about the relationship’s timeline and aims to remove her from the case on grounds of conflict of interest.
Trump’s attorney Steve Sadow asked, “You do in fact know when it started. And you don’t want to testify to that in court, that’s the best explanation, isn’t it?”
“That’s the true explanation because you don’t want to admit it in court, correct?” added Sadow.
Kelly said, “I have here, in front of me the texts. I’ve got 31 pages of the text messages.”
“I’m sorry, but this is not how someone who knows nothing about an affair sounds. He’s caught. Sorry! Nathan’s caught. Fani’s caught. Terrence is caught, giving it up!” said Kelly.
While not given under oath, the texts appear contradictory to testimony and could significantly impact the case against Trump.
