Freshman Senator Katie Britt of Alabama is slated to deliver the Republican response to President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address, which some analysts say could boost her profile and potentially position her as a vice presidential candidate.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich said Britt’s speech will be an “audition” and a major step if she “rises to the occasion.”

As Trump is virtually “>assured the 2024 GOP nomination, speculation about his running mate is growing.

Gingrich said, “Senator Britt who is the new freshman senator from Alabama, and who some very smart people believe will be Trump’s vice presidential pick — she has her big audition night because she’s going to deliver the response to Biden.”

“It’ll be interesting to see if Britt rises to the occasion. If she does, it will be a major step up in her potentially being Trump’s vice presidential candidate,” said Gingrich.

While Britt is seldom “>mentioned, Steve Bannon hinted Trump will choose a woman.

Bannon said, “My thinking is very structured that I believe President Trump will have a female as the vice president.”

Recent polls show Trump gaining among female voters after losing them in 2020.

Gingrich and others argue a strong performance by Britt rebutting Biden could raise her standing as a potential VP pick.
